I am looking forward to the upcoming CTS ESV CE I know it will only be Hardback but with the updated Grail Psalms used in Lectionary in my country will be nice to have and probably have an imperator from English and Welsh Bishops. the complete text block was done very well in the placement of the Apocryphal books. In all my past reviews, I have tried to be as honest as possible in my assessment, no matter if a particular bible was a review copy or not. The quality of the printing and binding and beauty of the translation far, far outweigh them. Most Bible Scholars would put the RSV as the true successor to the KJV in terms of modern English and yet still retaining the KJV beauty and grace. As an example, the Oxford Large Print NABRE is slightly shorter and narrower (but thicker) as shown in the two photos below. I love the ESV that came out 20 years ago, but its so close to this that I dont miss it. I am a Roman Catholic; there arent that many complete Catholic translations out there. The Catholic Church stopped using Latin in the Mass, and Mass attendance plummeted. I wish Schuyler could come up with the Knox translation, but thatll never happenif you remember, Bishop Sheen was a big fan of it. Because there are no paragraph headings (which I have grown to appreciate) I was initially concerned that reading through long passages (like in the historical books of the Old Testament) might become difficult. I have been pretty obsessed with this edition since I saw it advertised on several Bible websites, blogs, and Youtube channels that I enjoy. This has GOT to be the end of the world! Theyre plain in my opinion, but this one changed my mind! A few editions are already sold out, so if this bible is something you might want to purchase, you might want to consider getting it sooner rather than later. The grain is nothing to write home about and is on the stiff side of flexible. Martin Luther said, "Apocrypha--that is, books which are not regarded as equal to the holy Scriptures, and yet are profitable and good to read." The binding doesnt seem to be too tight and the signatures lay flat in Genesis and the maps. Others believe it is valid and that it should never have been removed- that it was considered part of the Bible for nearly 2,000 years before it was recently removed a little more than 100 years ago.
