Most Bible Scholars would put the RSV as the true successor to the KJV in terms of modern English and yet still retaining the KJV beauty and grace. As an example, the Oxford Large Print NABRE is slightly shorter and narrower (but thicker) as shown in the two photos below. I love the ESV that came out 20 years ago, but its so close to this that I dont miss it. I am a Roman Catholic; there arent that many complete Catholic translations out there. The Catholic Church stopped using Latin in the Mass, and Mass attendance plummeted. I wish Schuyler could come up with the Knox translation, but thatll never happenif you remember, Bishop Sheen was a big fan of it. The grain is nothing to write home about and is on the stiff side of flexible.
